This Peruvian is an absolute delight and it is definitely an interesting Coffee. This Coffee is grown by Elevi Perez Rufasto on his modest 2 hectare farm in the village of Nueva Union in San Jose Del Alto of the Cajamarca region. Elevi has been growing coffee for the past 20 years and his experience definitely shows in this cup. He picks and prcoesses the Coffee himself, along with some help from family members and paid workers during the peak month of the harvest.
These coffee beans boast one of those juicy flavour profiles that we absolutely love at SOMA. With flavour notes of Strawberry and Dark Chocolate, as well as a sticky sweet body that reminds us of jam. Cutting through then with a malic acidity, think pink lady apples and with a hint of spice on the finish, this coffee is a delight in all brew methods. Sweet and jammy on espresso or vibrant and juicy on filter; however you brew this coffee, it will be a treat for all.
We wanted to mention that, although they might not have certification, many of the farmers we work with employ organic farming practices. Oftentimes, farmers choose not to get certified as the process is costly and the farmers struggle to recoup that value when they take their beans to market.
