We were equal parts curious and excited when we heard that one of our suppliers was bringing in a natural Colombian... And it did not disappoint!
This coffee was produced by Yesid Costañeda at a farm known as Finca Las Delicias. I'm sure you can guess where the farm got its name from - and it is a rightly deserved title too. Yesid is not one to shy away from a challenge when it comes to producing quality coffee. His farm is located on a remote mountainside at 2000 masl. Living at this altitude has its challenges, but the resulting quality from the coffee produced is some of the most exceptional in Colombia. For context, most Colombian farms are between 1200 and 1800 masl. This high altitude, combined with Yesid's expertise, and rich volcanic soil, has provided a near-perfect environment for specialty coffee to be grown.
In the cup, this coffee is an absolute fruitcake! The first thing you'll taste in this coffee is a concoction of stewed fruit - perfect for those winter mornings. Think dried cranberries, raisins and sultanas - get the picture? That slowly gives way to this big boozy body that's got a sweet red wine note to it. Lastly, on the finish, there is just a lingering of tropical fruit, not enough to make this coffee a tropical fruit bomb, but enough to make you think "mmmm, that's interesting!". Enjoy this spectacular coffee in all brew methods
