A true Brazilian Coffee, what more is there to say?
We have sourced coffee from this farm before and so, to have it back again is a true testament to how great the coffees from this farm are, and we are truly delighted to have them return to our offering. Jorge Naimeg and his family are the producers of this exceptional coffee from Fazenda Pantano.
The result of a remarkable trajectory of entrepreneurship, the Naimeg family first started producing coffee in 1965. The history began with Gerson Naimeg, the son of German immigrants, and his wife Hercilia Mafra. They started their first coffee plantations in the northern region of Paraná. In 1981, the crops were hit by three devastating frosts that prompted the family to look for new borders. Gerson and Hacilia decided to migrate to the Cerrado Mineiro region. In the Cerrado Mineiro Region, the Naimeg family continued to explore and cultivate their love of coffee. Today, the family is made up of six siblings and their families who are all active in the day-to-day management of their farm’s operations. Inherited knowledge and talent and a continuous desire to improve translates into amazing coffees across brilliant terroirs that are still produced by the Naimeg family today.
This is the second year we have worked with the Naimeg family here at Soma Coffee Company. The farm has outstanding quality control, which resulted in many prizes including the Expocaccer Quality competitions in which they have won the natural and pulped natural categories.
In the cup you will find a warming taste of hot Cocoa and Vanilla Fudge, followed by Walnuts which finishes with a lingering taste of sweet dates.
