At Soma Coffee Company, we absolutely love Honduran coffee! The diversity and the quality of the coffee coming out of Honduras puts it in line with some of the best coffees in the world. With wild and funky Naturals that have blown us away and sweet, fruity and complex coffees that we just can't get enough of, Honduras is definitely a coffee origin to keep an eye on.
Finca Belén is located near the town of Belén in the Copán region of Honduras. The rich soil in the region and the local microclimate has created the perfect conditions for growing specialty coffee. The farm was founded by Al López, 4th generation coffee farmer with a wealth of know-how when it comes to producing specialty coffee. The farm is also part of a larger initiative in the region that is focused on developing the community and improving the lives and livelihoods of its people. Currently, this initiative helps around 200 families by giving them access to housing, jobs and education.
In the cup, you will find a beautifully complex coffee. Sweet peach is the first thing you'll taste, accompanied by a creamy vanilla body and delicate lavender florals. On espresso, this coffee is bright and vibrant with peach and lavender really popping, however, where this coffee really shines is on pour-over style filter. The delicacy of all the flavours really lends itself to this lighter style of brewing and allow you to pick up all the nuances to the bouquet of flavours in the cup.
